Who I am is more important than what I do
Lyn Kirkland
Encaustic mixed media on panel
Inspired by photo #312 x 12 x 1 inches
The image that inspired my painting was the microscopic view of a neural network. I have always likened similar images to outstretched fingers, grasping to make contact, and retain connections. The beauty in the intricate patterns, belies the enormity of the role the neurons play. As one of three sisters myself, the unending fight of Melissa Stephens' fundraising efforts to support Hope Lives: Art for ALS and to honour the memory of her sister Lynn touched me.
My painting was created on a circular panel to mimic a microscopic view. The hands fighting to retain a hold, whilst describing the support and love of Lynn Giovannelli’s family, giving her strength.
