Echoes of Connection

Angela Vitosinscaia

Encaustic mixed media on panel

Inspired by photo #3

16 x 16 x .4 inches

Using encaustic, I created a textured surface with blues, golds, and browns, capturing both degeneration and the hope for regeneration. The right side of the piece, with its darker, fragmented texture, represents the degeneration of motor neurons, while the lighter, more fluid left side hints at the potential for scientific discovery and healing. The human profile symbolizes a person with ALS, and the wax conveys both the breakdown of neurons and the promise of scientific breakthroughs.

As an encaustic artist based in Milton Keynes, this work is a tribute to the ALS community and a contribution to the fight for a cure, inspired by Melissa Stephens’ sister’s journey. I hope that art and science together can restore what ALS has taken away.

  • CARE OF ARTWORK

Like all fine artwork, encaustic paintings should not be hung in direct sunlight. Filtered sunlight is okay. To clean, dust lightly with a lintfree cloth. Painting may be lightly buffed with the same lint-free cloth to generate a shiny surface area. (example: Tshirt or nylon)
