Encaustic on panel
Inspired by photo #2
12 x 12 x 2 inches
This current work is driven by the intersection of science and emotion, where microscopic landscapes show the realities of ALS. Inspired by the research images, I translate these unseen worlds into a visual form. Using encaustic, I build up layers of wax and pigment mirroring the accretive nature of scientific discovery and the changes of the body affected by ALS. The physicality of the encaustic medium - its ability to preserve, obscure and transform - echoes both the fragility and resilience of the human condition. I aim to create space for reflection, empathy and a deeper connection to the unseen struggles of those affected by ALS.
